Trauma Awareness is an educational program designed to help victims and survivors of trauma. Trauma Awareness education offers individuals an opportunity to better understand the human responses to trauma within a holistic model. Within this holistic model, individuals are better able to comprehend the impact of trauma on all levels - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Through this educational experience, many participants identify their personal path through the trauma journey and relate to the normality of the many possible responses. This education also includes a presentation of ways to be more resilient in the face of a traumatic experience as well as ways to break the cycles of victim-hood.
The resilience and "breaking free" aspects of this course are not meant to substitute for therapy or counseling but simply act as an opportunity for a deeper understanding of the many possible paths associated with trauma and the ability to share and learn from others who have also experienced their own unique ways of responding.
Although this education is not a substitute for therapy, we feel it is a very therapeutic training and greatly benefits all of its participants.
